Glue No. 2 was featured in the March 2023 issue of British Vogue (the one with powerhouse Rihanna on the cover).
The original Glue No. 2 was a painting commissioned by a lovely couple when they saw my art at a 613flea market in Ottawa.
They wanted to commission a painting from me, however the challenge is that it would have to be done on a tight timeline if the painting was to be packed along with other stuff in their move.
Glue No. 2 was featured in the March 2023 edition of British Vogue in Vogue's Gallery.
Glue No. 2 is the successor to Glue No. 1 (which was a successor to Glue No. 0) in the Glue series, which explores how a painting with the same base concept can evolve and change with different colour palettes and environments.
No. 2 features an earthy palette with pops of dreamy blues, pinks, and greens. The background colour yielded an unexpected thick consistency, which worked well for the theme of the colour palette, since it started to feel like working clay rather than painting.
As such, the painting conveys both the clash and the unity of earth and water – the earth being the clay-like colours, and the water being the flowy, silky pops of colour on top.
